Lafayette beat out 3 other south Louisiana cities to get Buc-ee's

News 15 has learned Lafayette beat out three other cities to get the Buc-ee's that will soon start construction on I-10 at Louisiana Avenue. That's where the 74,000-square-foot Lafayette travel center is set to be built on 42 acres of land. Officials with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority said those other cities were in south Louisiana. In order to secure the location, LEDA presented Buc-ee’s with a benefits package that includes 2% sales tax that goes back to the store, as well as $3.5 million in incentives to offset some infrastructure costs.
