Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are conducting a death investigation stemming from a Monday afternoon incident in the 400 block of Breton Dr.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., deputies responded to what initial investigation indicates was an accidental shooting in which one person was killed. Preliminary evidence suggests the firearm was being cleaned when the apparent accidental discharge occurred.
No arrests have been made at this time. This case remains under investigation.
