Chief Browning of the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal, met with two of the three injured firefighters from New Iberia Fire Department.
The visit actually brought Driver Isaac Zamora and Capt. Gary Simone together for the first time since they were burned in a fire and subsequent explosion last month.
Both heroes are in excellent spirits and very optimistic about their recoveries!
Chief Browning thanked them for their service and sacrifice with an agency challenge coin, pin and patches and encouraged them to share their experiences with others in the fire service in hopes of improving training and preparation for unthinkable incidents like theirs.
The SFM wishes all three men continued success in their recoveries and return to the fire service!!
