News release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office...
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz “On July 7, 2023 a family member reported to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office that his father had been exploited by Candy Taylor Angona, who had been caring for the victim.”
Upon further investigation, detectives obtained copy of the victim’s bank statements and it was learned that during the last 4 months, there were two to three unauthorized withdrawals of $200.00 - $300.00 per day and other withdrawals for $1,500.00. The victim’s debit card number was also used to pay Candy Angona’s cell phone bill.
Candy Angona has also been accompanying the victim to a business in Krotz Springs, where the victim would request $200.00 - $300.00 cash back from the cashier. Candy Angona would urge the victim to request the cash when the ATM machine inside the business would not give additional funds.
After reviewing the bank statements, the family member disputed the authorization of funds to Candy Angona for the total amount of $13,897.71.
On July 24, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued, charging her with exploitation of persons with infirmities.
On August 15, 2023, Candy Taylor Angona was arrested and transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail, where she was booked on the arrest warrant.
