NEW IBERIA, La. (KADN) — Police in New Iberia said an ambush that turned into a shootout sent five people to the hospital.
Investigators said the shooting happened at a home in the 600 block of Breaux Alley on Monday, April 1, a little before 9 p.m.
They added some illegal gamblers and drug dealers were ambushed at the house by a group of shooters. According to police, at least one of the people inside the house fired back and hit one of the initial shooters.
Police said a legal search of the home turned up four pounds of marijuana and a gun.
The investigation is ongoing.
