CARENCRO, La. (NEWS 15) — The Courtesy Automotive Group Toughest Players of the Week for Week 8 are quarterback Carson Gurzi of Carencro on offense and linebacker Brian Amune of Carencro on defense.
"I felt great,” said Amune. “I put a lot of work effort into this. You know, I just like to be known, let people know who I am. That's really it."
"It's an honor,” added Gurzi. “I mean, you see guys like from Cecilia, Teurlings get this every other week. And I mean, they selected me, so that means something to me. That means something to me."
“I really came into this season thinking, like it would have been a dominant season, but it was just an obstacle I went through in life. And it was a hard time for me, so I just kept going, kept God first and just kept pushing myself as a player on the field,” explained Amune.
"The opportunity that I have at this age, not a lot of people get that opportunity to play 5A football against top teams in the state. I mean, and I would say I did it pretty good, but that's for other people's judgment," noted Gurzi.
Carencro hosts Acadiana on Thursday.
