In a steadfast commitment to our community's health, Ochsner Lafayette General and Our Lady of Lourdes have again come together, partnering with United Way of Acadiana, to conduct the 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
Every three years, these organizations combine their efforts to thoroughly listen and respond to the ever-evolving needs of the Acadiana region. Community members aged 18 and over are invited to complete our survey by May 20, 2024, which is accessible online at
https://unitedwayofacadiana.org/chna.

The CHNA is a crucial requirement mandated by the IRS for all nonprofit hospitals, necessitating input from a diverse array of community representatives, including healthcare experts and individuals familiar with local healthcare needs. As part of this process, inclusive focus groups involving both healthcare professionals and community leaders will be convened to ensure an accurate representation of the area's healthcare needs.
The insights gathered from this assessment will not merely be statistics on a report but will serve as the foundation for actionable strategies. Once completed, the assessment will be reviewed and adopted by the boards of 10 Ochsner and Lourdes hospitals within the nine parishes of Acadiana. These findings will guide both institutions in their dedicated endeavors to enhance health outcomes within the community. Moreover, United Way of Acadiana will leverage the assessment outcomes to direct its community investments, aiming to bolster the social determinants of health and foster holistic well-being.
"United Way of Acadiana is so proud to partner with Ochsner Lafayette General and Our Lady of Lourdes to identify and address community needs together. Through this research, United Way of Acadiana aims to identify gaps in the community and invest dollars and resources to close those gaps to build a healthier, stronger community." states Heather Blanchard, President and CEO of United Way of Acadiana.
“Together with our partners, through comprehensive data collection and shared expertise, we are identifying opportunities and making strides toward more informed, effective healthcare solutions to ultimately improve health outcomes for everyone we serve,” said Ochsner Lafayette General CEO Patrick Gandy. “This collaboration champions Ochsner’s values of teamwork, inclusivity and excellence and it exemplifies our commitment to understanding and enhancing the health and well-being of our communities,” continued Gandy.
"Through unity, we unveil the tapestry of communal well-being,” said Stephanie Manson, President, Our Lady of Lourdes Health.” Our joint Community Health Needs Assessment is not merely a study; it is a pledge to understand and implement initiatives that will enhance the health of our community
together.
