PORT BARRE, La. — Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a three-vehicle deadly crash on US 190 near Lakeshore Drive, located between Port Barre and Krotz Springs in St. Landry Parish, on Monday, January 13, a little before 2 a.m.

The crash claimed the life of Brandon Taylor, 32, of Port Barre.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Taylor was driving a 2024 Toyota Camry east in the westbound lanes of US 190. At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2013 Freightliner truck were both traveling west. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota collided head-on with the Chevrolet before being struck by the Freightliner.

All drivers were properly restrained. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured in the crash.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Taylor and the driver of the Chevrolet and submitted for analysis. The driver of the Freightliner voluntarily provided a breath sample, which showed no alcohol detected.

The crash remains under investigation.
