Krewe of Rio holds annual Cutting of the King Cake ceremony to mark start of Mardi Gras season

Mardi Gras season is in full swing across Acadiana and one Lafayette krewe is ready to celebrate. The Krewe of Carnviale en Rio marked the start of the season with the ceremonial Cutting of the King Cake on Friday, January 10. The krewe is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In addition to the annual cake cutting, King Dom Pedro and Queen Isabel shared a toast with everyone. The krewe will also celebrate Mardi Gras with the first ball held every year at the Cajundome Convention Center.
