CROWLEY, La. (KADN) — Crowley police are investigating two separate shootings that happened just a few hours apart on the same street Wednesday night left two people injured.
Investigators said the first shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 300 block of Jacobs Avenue and the other was in the 800 block around 11:45 p.m.
Detectives said an elderly woman suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder while standing on her front porch and was taken to Lafayette General Hospital for treatment.
They added it is believed her grandson was the intended target of the attack.
Police said in the second shooting, they were called to Ochsner Acadia General Hospital because a man had showed up to the emergency room with a gunshot wound in the back.
They added he told detectives he was driving down Jacobs Avenue with his family and a friend in the vehicle when they were ambushed by a group of men near a bridge.
They noted he was hit by a bullet, which turned out to be a minor injury.
Authorities said investigators collected more than 20 freshly-spent shell casings from the scene. They added the casings were 9mm and 5.56 (rifle) ammo.
The investigations are ongoing.
